My name’s Tom and I’m from Birmingham. I started at University in 2006 and graduated summer 2009 with a BA in Political Science and Sociology!
After being involved in the Guild for a while, through societies and in Guild Council I decided to run for VP Democracy & Resources. It was a big decision for me because I’ve always been really frustrated with the Guild (democracy in the guild in particular) and how it’s often seemed really closed. So my decision wasn’t really to run, but it was to turn my frustrations into something positive – an energy and determination to shape change!
This year will be crucial for the Guild. We’re attempting to diversify our income streams (relying on a bar is too risky in this climate), having a massive renovation and undergoing a huge review into our democratic structures.
What else do you need to know? I’m a massive West Brom fan, have a serious penchant for heavy metal music coupled with a perculiar respect and enjoyment of Girls Aloud!
